Rachel Robinson Founder of Brentford Dyslexia and Dyslexia Expert offering Dyslexia Assessments in West London for children aged 8 to 16

Hi, I’m Rachel Robinson.

Dyslexia Assessor and Specialist Teacher

I have over 20 years of experience teaching in primary schools, including being a Special Needs Coordinator (SENCO).

As an assessor and specialist teacher, I am passionate about removing barriers to learning and enabling pupils to reach their full potential. Throughout my professional career, I have worked with learners with a range of additional needs and have developed a wealth of experience supporting them to enjoy their learning.

My career began following my degree in Psychology, where I chose the path of teaching, which led to my passion for supporting children in their learning. I worked in a variety of different primary school settings, including inner city London and an international school, and I have now settled in a primary school in Ealing. I have experience leading different subject curriculum areas as well as the position of Year Leader. Using my psychology background, I developed an interest in teaching pupils with additional needs. I became a SENCO to help pupils and families access greater support to ensure all pupils met their potential.

Being a wife and mother to a dyslexic husband and son furthered my passion to become highly skilled in supporting learners with dyslexia. I trained at Helen Arkell to be a specialist teacher and assessor, where I can use my skills to unlock potential and help learners use their strengths to achieve and be successful.

I want to get to know your child as part of the assessment and understand their strengths and difficulties to personalise my report and recommendations.

I use games and fun activities to put children at ease and to help them feel relaxed in order to get the best from every learner.

Every child’s thoughts and opinions are valued and always incorporated into an assessment. Ensuring they feel positive about their strengths and interests is part of the process. Providing opportunities for them to share their strategies and discuss their difficulties helps me understand how they learn best.

What Parents Are Saying…

“I would highly recommend Rachel to assess and write a dyslexic report. My child had her assessment at age 9, she was very relaxed and comfortable in Rachel's home. Rachel explained the whole process very clearly to her. We were very pleased with the outcome and the recommendations made to improve my child’s learning.”

“I’m so glad I had the chance to work with Rachel, who was recommended to me by a friend. From the very beginning, she made a fantastic impression. Communication was smooth, everything was clearly explained, and she showed genuine care and commitment from the first message.
My 12-year-old daughter’s assessment took place at Rachel’s home, in a calm and welcoming environment that helped her feel at ease. I was able to wait comfortably in the next room during the session.
Thanks to Rachel’s many years of experience and her wonderful approach to working with children, she quickly built a sense of trust with my daughter. As a result, my daughter was calm and willing to engage with the tasks, even though it was a new situation for her.
I’m truly grateful to Rachel for her professionalism, empathy, and individualised approach. I would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for a kind, reliable, and highly competent professional to work with their child.
Thank you, Rachel!”.

“I cannot recommend Rachel enough. From the very start, her communication was clear, professional, and warm—she responded to all our questions quickly and with great kindness. The assessment was a big hit with my daughter, who genuinely enjoyed the experience despite it being quite mentally challenging. Rachel was incredibly patient and caring, and she truly sees each child as the unique individual they are. That, to me, is so important when going through these types of assessments. I’m so happy we chose to go through this process with her.”

“You constantly encouraged and supported my daughter to do her best”.
